Crucifix

Motovun (Croatia), 13th century
Wood and paint
Poreč Basilica, Croatia

This crucifix involves a transition from Romanesque to Gothic. As in Romanesque Jesus wears a rich skirt, his arms are straight, and there is no wound in his side. But his head is bent as in the new style and the eyes are closed as if on the point of death.

I am not sure how to interpret the bowl-shaped cap.
